    We live in a world that teaches us to take control—of our future, our finances, our time, even our happiness. Everywhere we look, the message is the same: if you want something, make it happen.

    But there’s a problem with that mindset. Because what happens when life refuses to follow your plan? What happens when the “buttons” you’ve been pressing stop working?

    That’s exactly what I learned the day I discovered my so-called universal remote didn’t control the universe after all.

    It was supposed to simplify everything—control the TV, the lights, the sound system. But one afternoon, in a moment of frustration, I pointed it upward toward my problems, half joking, and pressed the buttons as if I could “fix” life’s chaos.

    Nothing happened.
    The noise didn’t stop.
    The pain didn’t fade.
    The answers didn’t come.

    And then, in the silence that followed, I realized something deeper than I ever expected: maybe God designed it that way on purpose.

    Because I was never supposed to control the universe.
    I was supposed to trust the One who already does.

    That day, I started understanding something sacred—something we all need to be reminded of: control is an illusion, but faith is real power.

    Chapter 1 — The Illusion of Control

    We’ve all tried to control something that wasn’t ours to control.
    We try to control how others see us.
    We try to control the outcomes of our plans.
    We try to control time, love, loss, and even God Himself through our expectations.

    But no matter how hard we try, control slips through our fingers like sand. And the harder we grip, the less peace we feel.

    Our need for control comes from fear—fear of loss, fear of failure, fear of uncertainty. But the irony is this: the more we chase control, the more anxiety we create.

    Faith works the opposite way. Faith says, “Let go, and trust Me.”

    When you surrender your need to control, you make room for God’s peace to take over.
    When you stop managing every outcome, you begin seeing miracles unfold in ways you never expected.

    That’s why Proverbs 19:21 is such a powerful reminder:

    “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”

    When I looked down at that remote that day, I realized how much of life I’d been trying to “program.”

    I wanted to pause the moments that felt good.
    I wanted to fast-forward through the pain.
    I wanted to rewind my mistakes.
    I wanted to mute the voices that criticized me.

    But no matter what button I pressed, nothing changed.

    That’s because I was holding the wrong remote.

    God holds the real one.

    He knows when to press pause—not to punish you, but to prepare you.
    He knows when to hit play—not when you demand it, but when you’re ready.
    He knows when to mute the world so you can finally hear His still, small voice.

    And sometimes, He even rewinds your story—not so you’ll live in regret, but so you’ll remember His faithfulness.

    Romans 8:28 tells us:

    “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.”

    Notice that it doesn’t say in some things—it says in all things.

    That means the delay you’re frustrated about, the relationship that ended, the job that fell through—none of it was random. God is working in every detail, orchestrating something bigger and better than you could see in the moment.

    The Director Knows the Script

    Imagine a movie set.
    The actors see the scene they’re in—but only the director knows how the story ends.

    That’s exactly how faith works.

    You may be stuck in a scene that doesn’t make sense, but God already wrote the ending. He sees the full timeline, from the opening credits to the final moment of redemption.

    If He tells you to pause, it’s because something in your character still needs refining.
    If He fast-forwards you into opportunity, it’s because you’re finally ready for the responsibility.
    And if He cuts a scene completely, it’s because that chapter wasn’t meant to define you.

    When you start trusting God’s direction, your fear fades—because you realize your life isn’t out of control; it’s under divine direction.

    That’s the moment your anxiety starts to quiet and your heart starts to rest.

    You don’t have to run the universe. You just have to trust the One who spoke it into existence.

    Chapter 3 — Faith Begins Where Control Ends

    The truth is, control is heavy. It’s exhausting trying to manage outcomes that were never in your hands.

    But surrender? That’s freedom.

    When you let go of your version of the story, God begins to write His.

    You may not understand it now, but one day you’ll look back and say, “I see what You were doing all along.”

    Because God never wastes pain.

    He never loses control.

    And even when life feels chaotic, He’s still directing every scene with purpose and precision.

    God hasn’t abandoned you—He’s aligning things.

    You don’t need to manipulate outcomes when you walk with a God who commands galaxies.

    That’s why Jesus said in Matthew 6:34,

    “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.”

    He wasn’t saying, “Don’t plan.”
    He was saying, “Stop pretending you can control what only God can.”

    Each day has enough grace for itself. Each step has enough light for the next move.

    You don’t need to see the whole map when you walk with the One who designed the journey.

    Chapter 6 — From Panic to Peace

    You can’t control the universe—but you can control your surrender.
